Don’t lose yourself…

Many of you know I have transitioned to Memphis, TN from San Antonio, TX a few weeks ago. During my transition from these places, I decided to take a month off of work. One week to pack and move to Memphis. Two weeks to spend time with family and friends on the West Coast, and one week to unpack and get ready to start work again.

One of the reasons I decided to take a month off from work was to get some rest from everything that I had been going through. I was getting to a point in my life where I was very exhausted, stressed, and feeling unmotivated. I would hate waking up in the morning to go to work, be irritated at work, and after working a 12hr day, go home, deal with life’s problems, decompress, and go to sleep. My life was not that exciting. I didn’t want to do anything; I just wanted to be home, relax, and catch up on sleep.

Right now I’m on week three of my vacation and have just a few more days before I head back to Memphis. During my time on the West Coast, I have visited friends, family, and people who play a significant role in my life.
I say all of that to say this: It’s so easy to lose yourself in your everyday life routine!

Being on vacation, I have noticed how much I lost myself in my everyday life routine. I forgot how likeable and funny (the list goes on and on) of a person I am! I lost all of who I am, focusing on who I was at the current moment. During this vacation time, I have come up with a few steps that I need to revert back to when I start feeling like I’m getting caught up again.

1. Make sure you take time for yourself.
~ I am one of those people who hate to take time off from work, but I have realized that I need time for myself; to make sure I don’t lose who I am.

2. You need to surround yourself with a team that believes in you and reminds you of how great of a person you are.
~ Although, I was going through my life routines, I wasn’t motivated to do anything more than what my life routine was. It wasn’t until I came to Vegas where my support team reminded me of who I am and what my purpose was, and just like that my flame was ignited again.

3. Think of a game plan.
~ Put a plan together that you can follow to make sure that you don’t lose yourself again. And, if you do, follow the plan to get back on track.

Examples: Going out to eat with friends once a week, taking an extended weekend; every two months or anytime you feel unmotivated, schedule times with your support teams to talk or hang out.

4. Evaluate your life.
~Look at the things in your life that are draining/helping you, and make the proper adjustments to keep what is good and get rid of the things that are pulling you down.

It’s so easy to lose yourself in your everyday life and problems. The trick is to make sure you do not stay there. God has created you to be someone special and do great things in His kingdom. The devil wants to try and detour you from being the person God has created you to be.

But, guess what?! The only person who can stop you from being who God created you to be is YOU!!! You are too dope to lose yourself in your daily routine and problems. You were created to overcome and be a victor. God made you just the way you are for a reason so don’t lose that person. God thought you were worth it and paid a hefty price for you!

  1. Perfect timing, yet again, with needing to hear something. I deal with this very often, feeling like a robot and like a hamster on a wheel, just spinning and spinning in the same place. That all tends to make me isolate myself and become unmotivated, feeling “stuck”, yet having this burning desire of knowing I was created for SO MUCH MORE than just a “JOB”.

It is definitely in those moments where I take a “break” and refuel myself with great company, a trip, a change in scenery. A time to recharge the my battery and create some type of “plan” to max out my full potential in life.

Thanks Ness!!! I know this new adventure is going to bring you to the next level of YOU and your PURPOSE!!!

  2. Chelles, wait til you read tomorrow’s blog, I believe it will give you a new direction! But… my new level means a new level for you too! Get ready lady, because I’m just helping the Lord pave your way as well! 🙂
