A Father’s Love…

We just celebrated Father’s Day and being away from home is never easy. I wanted to be with my family as they celebrated my father and of course, ate some good food. I wasn’t there to partake in festivities and ended up being home alone. Don’t get me wrong, I like my alone time, but when you have a deep urge to be with your father it doesn’t make things easy.

As I was sitting on the couch soaking in my sadness, I started to think about our father’s love. There’s a love only a father knows how to give his child. There is a different type of love that our Heavenly Father gives us. He gives us an eternal love. A love that never changes. A love that stays the same each day that passes, no matter what we do or have done.

Now, if you’ve read or saw my testimony you know how much mess I put my parents through, but at the end of the day, my dad still loved his baby girl. It doesn’t matter what I did, he was still there. I know this love about my dad.

I started to think about the story of the prodigal son found in the Bible (Luke 15). It’s a story of a son who left his home to do whatever he wanted to do. He was out partying and drinking wasting all of his money to the point he became homeless. He had nothing!

The prodigal son left his home, where he ate and had a bed. He did this to go experience the life he thought he wanted and ended up eating and sleeping with the pigs.

The son finally came to his senses and wanted to go home to see his father. He began his journey back home, looking homeless, smelling like pigs, had nothing left, and when he got in close proximity to his home, his father ran towards him. He hugged him despite what he looked like or even smelled like and welcomed him back like nothing ever happened.

It was then that I started to thank God; my Heavenly Father for keeping me and welcoming me back into his arms when I was that prodigal daughter. I even thanked him for still loving me when I mess up. My eyes began to tear up, because I felt His love for me. It’s a love that’s indescribable because it’s an eternal love that no one can take away.

I share this story to say this…

It doesn’t matter where you go, what you do, who you do, because God still see’s you as his child. He doesn’t care how you look, or how you smell, guess what?! He loves you the same. Nothing you do can change the way God feels about you. Just know that He is not upset with you. He still loves you!

So, stop thinking you’re not good enough. You are more than enough! It doesn’t matter if that person left you and broke your heart, it doesn’t matter if your mother or father abandoned you, it doesn’t matter, because God’s love heals all. He thinks you are the apple of his eye, He thinks you are royalty. God see’s your heart, but man see’s your outward appearance.

God’s love as a father can never be duplicated, it can only be experienced. Experience God’s love, experience a Father’s love, because you deserve it and you are worth it!
